Veteran Australian off-spinner Colin Miller has marked his surprise recall for the Ashes tour by criticising his English
counterparts.
The 37-year-old was chosen ahead of Stuart McGill for this summer's tour in the 16-man squad and is likely to be competing
with Shane Warne for one spinning spot in the Australian side.
But Miller, who has spent time playing local league cricket in England, is more concerned with highlighting the deficiencies of England's slow
bowlers.
"Every other off-spinner I've seen tries to get the batsman out and I don't think
England's off-spinners do that," he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"They're happy to bowl to a 6-3
leg-side field and wait for the batter
to make a mistake. I think if I get
a chance in England I'll do well."
Miller, who was playing club cricket
in Holland when Australian last toured
England in 1997,will be playing on his
first Ashes tour.
The reigning Australian Test cricketer of
the year, who can also bowl medium pace,
dyed his hair blue during last winter's series
against the West Indies and has promised
to treat English crowds to another colour
this summer.
