Alexander was the Australian tour manager in 1880 and 1884, and Manager of Ivo Bligh's team in 1882/1883. George Alexander was one of the first 22 players to play Test cricket in England, held at the Oval in 1880. He scored a steadfast 33 and his innings helped his side avoid an innings defeat.
