Tommy Andrews (very
much like Steve Waugh) was a poor starter, however when
he was settled in, he was very hard to dismiss, playing
a wide array of entertaining and attractive strokes.
He was a right handed batsman who toured England in
1921 and 1926, and South Africa in 1921/22. His best
period for Australia came in the 1921 tour of England
where he scored 1, 212 at an aggregate of 32.75. 1919/
20 was his best Sheffield Shield season,scoring 3, 072
runs at an aggregate of 42.08, including 247 not out
against Victoria. He was a stonemason by trade, and
died at the age of 80 in Croydon, New South Wales.
