Ted
A'Beckett was a fast-medium bowler, a tall man standing
at 6ft 3". He was one of four members of a prominent
legal family, after only 5 first class seasons, he retired
to concentrate on his own legal career as a barrister.
He made his Test Debut against England at Melbourne
in 1928/1929, opening the bowling he took his first
wicket - Jack Hobbs was his victim. He also toured England
under the captaincy of Bill Woodfull a year later. The
only other Test team he played against was South Africa
in the 1931/32 season.
