Trevor
Chappell is the younger brother of three who played
cricket for Australia, and only brother not to captain
his country. Ian was the first brother to captain
Australia - Greg was the second. Perhaps their most
famous connection to cricketing history is the fact
that all three brothers are the grandson's of Victor
Richardson (played for Australia during the bodyline
saga).
He
only played for Australia three times and only scored
79 runs at 15.80. He never had the same talent that
his brothers possessed and had to struggle firstly
to Sheffield Shield status and then on to Test level.
He was picked to tour England in 1981 after a good
Shield Season in 1980/81. Unfortunately for him, he
played in the first 3 Test matches and failed with
the bat. He was never picked for Australia again and
during the Ashes tour, had to take a back seat position
and watch his side loose the Ashes. On his return
home he was left out of the home Test Series and continued
with his Sheffield Shield cricket. No other family
has produced three brothers who have all played cricket
for Australia.
