Geoff
Dymock was a medium-fast opening left-arm bowler,
off a short run of 12 paces. Dymock was Quennsland's
main attack weapon for many years and was the State's
highest ever wicket taker with 425 wickets. Although
a main bowler for his state side, he was used as a
stock bowler for his country. He was a dangerous bowler
who could swing the ball both ways and in 21 Test
matches took 78 wickets costing 27.13 per wicket.
Dymock
then started a battle for his Test side with fellow
Australian Gary Gilmour (a player with similar bowling
to Dymock but his batting was superior). After a spell
out of the Test side. Dymock fought his way back in
after taking 35 wickets in 9 State matches, this time
at the expense of Gilmour and booked his place on
the 1977 tour of england. Unfortunately he only took
15 wickets in 10 first class matches and ended the
series with dissapointing figures. He bowled well
through the 'Packer' period witht many first choice
bowlers unavailable, taking 6 for 34 in one match.
He made one final visit to England as a player for
the centenary Test match but was unsuccessful. His
Test career over, he retired from first class cricket
in 1982 and was assistant manager to the national
side on tour to England in 1985.
