John Robart Hodges (born August 11, 1855 in London, England; died January
17, 1933 in Victoria) played in the first two Test matches
in 1877.
Hodges was a round-arm left-handed
medium-pace bowler, and played most of his cricket at
the club level in Melbourne, mostly for Richmond suburban
club. In addition to his two Test matches, he played
twice for Victoria in first-class matches.
Despite his cricketing ability Hodges
spent most of his life living in poverty.
