Born 1902 Creswell, Derbyshire

Played for Derbyshire and England

Another team member who was bespectacled, Tommy Mitchell was a former miner (like Larwood) and right-arm leg break bowler. He bowled the googly, and spun the ball perhaps more than any other bowler in his time, with the ability to spin the ball on any surface.

In 10 of his 12 seasons as a county player for Derbyshire, he took over 100 wickets including his best haul of 116 in Derbyshire's championship year of 1936. he only played in one match during the Bodyline series, taking 3 wickets in the match.
