The sixth match in the One Day Triangular series between Australia and Pakistan has been
abandoned without a ball being bowled. The umpires took the decision after persistent
rain fell on Durham's County ground overnight and all day.
The crowd had left the ground well before the covers were taken off allowing the pitch to breathe.
This is terribly bad luck for the county, especially after last years tournament provided more than
600 runs last year and had promised a similar wicket this year.
On the back of a comprehensive win against England on Thursday night, Australia would have
no doubt relished the opportunity to continue their team rotation at Chester le Street today
against Pakistan in the Nat West series.
Unfortunately for the crowd and the players involved, there was little chance of play today after the
inclement weather hit Durham with a winter's vengeance.
