England are well and truly in command of this final Test match of the series after another stunning performance from Michael Vaughan, saved only from a double century by another dubious decision from Russell Tiffin.

Nasser Hussain declared on 9 for 452, a lead of 451 over Australia. On a normal pitch it was certainly a gettable total for the best side in the world but on an increasingly un predictable pitch.

Vaughan's innings ended 17 runs short of what would have been a remarkable double century thanks to a leg before decision that went against him, Andy Bichel who later showed heroics with the bat was the successful bowler. It was not the only questionable decision in this match from Tiffin, Langer was later to suffer at his hands with another leg before decision to go in favour of the bowlers.

England lost their second wicket in the opening session, that of Nasser Hussain for 72 who was caught behind by Gilchrist off Brett Lee. Hussain didn't want to walk and was eventually given out after the underside of his bat connected with the ball to give Gilchrist an unusual catch. Hussain and Vaughan had put on 189 runs for the third wicket, a record for England at Sydney.

In reply, England continued to perform well and aided with a difficult batting wicket had Australia in trouble at 3 for 25, the top order in disarray.

Andy Bichel was the only player to show any resolve as he came out as night watchman, ending the day on 49 not out, one run away from a superb maiden Test half century.

Tomorrow will more than likely prove a mountain too high to climb for Australia and will give England their first victory on tour. England look a far more complete side in this Test match aided by Australia's decision to go into the match with one spinner.
