Ever since the wii was launched, cricket fans around the world called for a cricket game for the wii platform. The nintendo wii wasn’t necessarily built for cricket in mind but the controls and gameplay lend itself to the great game.

In the early part of the 20th century, Don Bradman practiced in his back garden with a golf ball and a cricket stump – hitting the ball against the brick base of a water tower, he would sharpen his focus and improve his reactions. This, along with a certain amount of natural ability, helped create the world’s greatest batsman. With the introduction of Codemaster’s wii Ashes 2009 game, could we have another Bradman in the making thanks to the technology of the wii?!!

I highly doubt it but one thing is for sure, as was the introduction of 20/20 to cricket, the game will bring cricket to a whole new audience and create a new generation of fans. The only previous form of cricket available on the wii was beach cricket, it was part of the beach sports package and although it didn’t set the world alight what it did do was prove to the computer manufacturers out there that a) the demand was there and b) the sport would play out rather well on the wii.
