Day 6 Report - The Final Day

Leyland was the first to go on the final day, falling to a ball that by now had started to play tricks on the batsman. With 30 runs to score for the victory, it was left to the sick Paynter to hit the winning run just as the rain (which was to last for two days) came down in earnest - very lucky timing.

During the match, Archie Jackson died in Brisbane, a great loss to not only cricket but his country and family.
