22nd December, 2006 | Back to Shane Warne Index

Over the years, Shane Warne has changed the way we think of cricket in both the long and short game, both international and domestic. The guy is a Legend. The game has become more interesting, results are commonplace and rarely do we see a dull and boring draw. Another fact that few can argue is that Shane has also commanded an unrivalled amount of black and white print in the broadsheets, tabloids and magazines and more recently the internet.

I thought I would include a number of cartoons that I have come across over the past few days with Shane in mind. All posted in fun, they poke fun at the Sheik of Tweak and his infidelities, his love of mobile phones and his decision at the MCG press conference this weak to hang up his boots. All cartoons are courtesy of John "Ditchy" Ditchburn from Inkcinct in Victoria Australia.

Shane Warne retiring from cricket!!
Warne trying to patch up his marriage after a series of affairs organised by mobile phone
Shane Warne's serial infidelities causing the break up of his marriage
Shane Warne's serial infidelities
Severe fire conditions in Victoria. Absolutely nothing to do with Shane this one but I thought it was highly topical and a great cartoon. The guys were winning the Ashes back in Perth while fire fighters were struggling to cope with the severe fire conditions in Victoria.

My thanks to Ditchy for the superb cartoons. John has been a cartoonist for the Ballarat Courier since 1990. Before then he drifted through a succession of jobs as chemical worker, storeman, screen printer, diver, chainman, barman, bus driver, which he considers to be an excellent qualification for a cartoonist.
