Shane
Warne admitted there could not have been a better scenario
than taking his 700th Test wicket at his home ground
in his penultimate match.
Warne bowled Andrew Strauss during the first afternoon
of the fourth Ashes Test to reach the milestone.
"To do it here in Melbourne
... I don't know who is writing my scripts but they're
pretty good," said Warne.
"They are unbelievable feelings.
My legs were shaking. The crowd were fantastic and it's
a very happy day."
Warne started a lap of honour when
he reached his milestone but said: "I got tired
... that's why I stopped."
"There are some special things
that happen in your life and there are some special
days in your life and that's definitely one of them,"
he continued.
"The birth of your
children, getting married, playing in your first Test
are all pretty special but that one, from an individual
point of view, has got to be one of the best days I've
ever had." Image

The 37-year-old claimed he was always
confident of dismissing Strauss.
.
"I said to Glenn McGrath I
would get him bowled through the gate trying to sweep
but he was sweeping it pretty well," the spin maestro
said.
"I was bowling quite fast because
it was slow turn and I thought if I slowed up I'd get
him to drive and it could have worked out any better.
"Just to be out there and get
the wickets was something special." |
